Thanks for helping me out on this. I currently have 4.5 inch reflector telescope. But I haven’t used it anymore because I got bored with looking at the stars, nebulas and etc.. I loves astronomy and I want a telescope that will keep me engaged with it. I want to see a big different with a newer telescope and exoplanets around stars if possible. I’m thinking about 16 inch lightbridge, or Celestron C11. Which scope would you recommend?

  5. Granted they have …
Granted they have good history and also have some excellent top range products, however in the price bracket that the guy was looking at celestron do not even come close to other makes. (just that particular range)

  6. General rule of …
General rule of thumb re. magnification is 25 x per inch of aperture. Buy a reflector if you want to look at galaxies/deep sky stuff. Refractors if you want to look at the planets and the Moon. For deep sky the larger the aperture the better. You need light grasp as galaxies etc are faint. Okay, the secondary mirror reduces contrast but thats not what you want for deep sky observing. Planets are bright, so you don’t need so much light grasp. What you want is contrast to see features. Nuff said.

@GEOPAIH1234: Celestron are a bit poo are they? May I remind you that Celestron had the majority of the marketplace during the 70’s and 80’s. They were the first to mass market the Schmidt-Cassegrain. Do you remember the Questar? You wouldn’t get a Celestron with decent aperture for £200. PS. They used to be recommended by Dr. Spock on the back pages of Astronomy magazine. lol

  8. Join your local …
Join your local astronomical society mate. Don’t trust what you see on you tube. You’ll see 5 stars on this page and others regarding astronomy but I wouldn’t take it as sound advice. Phone the Federation of Astronomical Societies for your nearest society. Or buy the UK magazine Astronomy Now. Theres loads of ‘scopes for sale and astronomers are usually a friendly bunch. Alternatively, let me know which town you’re in and I can put you in touch. Cheers. SAS.
