the  reflecting telescope is commonly used in astronomy because it is much easier to create a large convex mirror than to create the huge lenses that would be necessary to gather the light to see dim far-away objects

Astronomical telescopes do not correct the inversion of the image.

Refracting telescopes are cheap if small, but limited in size because it is impossible to make very large lenses, due to the weight of the glass involved. They are also subject to chromatic abberation.

Reflecting telescopes are lighter, but require a 2nd mirror to reflect the light to the eyepiece, this always has to be placed in the optical path of the primary mirror, causing some loss of light and image quality.&lt;br&gt;&lt;b&gt;References : &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>
